This product has been engineered and manufactured with the highest priority on safety.
Important Safety Precautions • Cleaning—Unplug the AC cord from the AC outlet before cleaning the product. Use a damp cloth to clean the product. Preparation Inserting the batteries Before using the System for the first time, insert two “AA” size batteries (supplied) into the remote control. When the batteries become depleted and the remote control fails to operate, replace the batteries with new “AA” size batteries. 1 Open the battery cover. 2 Insert two supplied “AA” size batteries. 3 Close the battery cover. + _ _ + • Place batteries with their terminals corresponding to the (e) and (f) indications in the battery compartment.

The TV set can also be rotated 25 degrees to right and left. Please adjust the angle so that the TV set can be watched most comfortably. How to adjust the angle Hold the carrying handle and tilt the screen while steadying the stand with your other hand.

Basic operation First installation When you turn on the LCD TV set for the first time, the First installation routine, which makes installation easier, is activated. Using this routine, you can select the on-screen display language, and automatically search for and store all the receivable channels. MAIN POWER VOL CH MENU TV/VIDEO 1 Press the MAIN POWER switch. The “First installation (Language)” screen with a list of the languages for the on-screen display appears.
Basic operation Turning the main power on and off MAIN POWER VOL CH MENU TV/VIDEO | Press the MAIN POWER switch. The POWER/ Standby indicator instantaneously changes from red to green and the main unit is turned on. MAIN POWER On-screen display NOTE • The On-screen indicator disappears after a few seconds. | To turn off the main power, press the MAIN POWER switch. 1 S06 ON/OFF Standby To turn off the LCD TV Press POWER. The POWER/Standby indicator will turn red.

Useful features Selecting menu items • The menus can be used to adjust the various settings of your LCD TV set. Virtual Dolby Surround is a technology certified by Dolby Laboratories that creates a virtualised surround sound experience from two speakers using Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II. Virtual Dolby Surround retains all the original multichannel audio information and provides the listener with the sensation of being surrounded by additional speakers.

Useful features AV Connections It is possible to manually adjust various settings for connections with external devices on the “AV connections” screen. Useful features NICAM broadcast selection This enables the selection of the reception mode when receiving a NICAM-I or NICAM-B/G signal. To let you enjoy NICAM broadcasting, this LCD TV set receives NICAM system stereo, bilingual, and monaural broadcasts. Stereo The LCD TV set is receiving a stereo broadcast. • Each time you press MPX, the mode changes between “Stereo” and “Mono”. • When “Mono” is selected, the TV sound is output monaurally.
Useful features A2 stereo broadcasts This enables the selection of the reception mode when receiving an A2 stereo signal. To let you enjoy A2 stereo broadcasting, this LCD TV set receives A2 stereo system stereo and bilingual broadcasts. Stereo The LCD TV set is receiving a stereo broadcast. • Each time you press MPX, the mode changes between “Stereo” and “Mono”. • When “Mono” is selected, the TV sound is output monaurally.
Connecting external devices You can enjoy picture and sound by connecting a VCR or a home video game system to the terminals located on the rear of the TV set. When connecting an external device, turn off the power of the main unit first to prevent any possible damage. Connecting external devices Outputting video and audio (video output) You can output video and audio signals from the TV set through the AV output terminals (AV-IN3/OUT). • When using AV3 as an output terminal, select “Features” in the menu and set “AV-IN3/OUT” to “OUT”. (See page 19.) • The factory setting for “AV-IN3/OUT” is “IN3”. Connect to a VCR, audio amplifier, etc.
Troubleshooting ■ Before calling for repair service, check the following items for possible remedies to the encountered symptoms. TV set Problem Sound Picture Picture There is no picture or sound. There is no picture. There is no picture from AV-IN 1/2. Reference Pages Check item • Make sure the AC adapter is properly inserted in the power outlet. • Reception other than those of broadcasting stations can be considered. • Make sure the input mode is set to TV.
Troubleshooting Antenna Problem The picture is not sharp. Check item • • • • The reception may be weak. The state of the broadcast may also be bad. Make sure the antenna is facing the right direction. Make sure the outside antenna is not disconnected. The picture moves. The picture is doubled or tripled. • Make sure the antenna is facing the right direction. • There may be reflected electric waves from mountains or buildings. The picture is spotted.
