Plasmacluster Technology
Used in a variety of Industries
Plasmacluster Ion technology is recognised and used across
a wide range of industries. In collaboration with a number of
companies, Sharp has expanded the Plasmacluster Ion technology
to the following industries worldwide:
•
Reduce suspended allergens and floating mould spores
with positive and negative ions
Plasmacluster Ions are helpful in deactivating allergens caused
by dust mites and in deactivating mould spores that can cause
mildew in the home. Sharp Air Purifiers help to improve the
quality of the air you breathe.
•
Reduce suspended viruses with positive and
negative ions
Plasmacluster Ions break down and remove projecting spike-
shaped proteins of suspended viruses such as influenza,
reducing their effects.
•
Neutralise odour-causing molecules with positive and
negative ions
Plasmacluster Ions help to reduce the source of a wide range of
unpleasant household odours including cooking, pets, garbage
and cigarette smoke.
Advantages of Plasmacluster Ions
Sharp sales of products incorporating
Plasmacluster Ion Technology has
exceeded 60 Million units worldwide.
Sharp Air Purifiers have been
tested and approved by The
British Allergy Foundation.

Sharp Air Purifiers contain a Plasmacluster Ion generator that releases positive and negative ions into the
air. The Plasmacluster Ions diffuse through the room, surrounding airborne allergens, bacteria, mould and
viruses, converting hydrogen molecules in their surface proteins into water.
1. Release Plasmacluster Ions
Plasmacluster Ions are similar to positive
and negative ions found in nature. The
ions are surrounded by water molecules
and are released into the air.
2. Attack suspended airborne microbes
The ions form hydroxide (OH) radicals that are highly oxidising
when they adhere to the surface of airborne microbes like
suspended allergens, bacteria, mould and viruses. They remove
hydrogen from the surface proteins, breaking them down.
3. Return to the air as water
The hydroxide (OH) radicals combine
with hydrogen (H) to form water (H
2
O)
which returns to the air.

Natural Breathable Air
Asthma and allergy sufferers understand the importance of clean
air. Animal dander, pollen and many other airborne contaminants
cause and exacerbate allergies, particularly in the home. With
more of our time spent indoors, reducing these substances from
the air around us is important because they can impact upon our
wellbeing. Sharp’s Air Purifiers use Plasmacluster technology to
help inactivate harmful airborne substances and make our living
environment cleaner and healthier.
Sharp’s range of Plasmacluster Air Purifiers help to provide a quick
and powerful cleansing effect for an entire room, by removing or
deactivating a range of airborne allergens and other substances
providing clean, safe air quality in the home.
GLP* compliant test facilities have gathered safety data on Sharp’s
Plasmacluster technology after testing for;
– Skin irritation/corrosion
– Eye irritation/corrosion
– Inhalation toxicity (lung tissue genetic impact assessment)
* Tested by: Mitsubishi Chemical Safety Institute GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
is a system of management controls for test facilities and test procedures designed
to ensure the reliability of chemical safety assessment tests.
Proven at 24 Institutions in Japan and around the world. Validation data for Plasmacluster Ion generating
devices have been gathered by the institutions referred to below*.
* Tests conducted in laboratory conditions using various Plasmacluster Ion densities of up to 50,000 ions/cm³.
Certified Worldwide
Plasmacluster — Gaining Trust and New Customers around the World
Tested by 24 Institutes and Organisations
The effectiveness of Plasmacluster Ions is being proven worldwide
Note: In collaboration with research organizations, Sharp has proven the efficacy of
Plasmacluster Ions against 29 types of harmful substances (viruses, allergens, mould
fungi, and bacteria) as well as their efficacy and working mechanism in neutralizing
four types of odours and in beautifying skin.
• This is supporting scientific data for Plasmacluster Ion generator.
• Please note that Sharp does not guarantee that test results can be replicated in actual user situations.
• The feature varies upon models/regions
• Plasmacluster’s effectiveness will vary depending on the ion density and product.
•
 Removal of clinging odours
Plasmacluster ions break down and remove odour components
that have seeped into room furnishings.
•
 Removal of Static Electricity
Plasmacluster Ions reduce static electricity, preventing
pollen and airborne dust from clinging to curtains, clothing and
other surfaces.
•
Keep Skin Moisture, Elasticity and Texture
Preserve skin moisture as the water molecules that surround
the Plasmacluster Ions adhere to the surface of the skin and
form a water molecule coating. The effectiveness will vary based
on season, temperature, humidity and skin types.
