OPERATING PROCEDURE Pick up the handset and dial the receiving machine. . Wait for the facsimile answer back tone. If the remote unit is in manual receive mode, the START key must be pressed at the cremate unit after verbal communication is completed. Whig then causes the remote unit to issue the answer back tone. . Press the START key, then hang up the handset. Check the LCD to see that communication with the receiving machine has been established. .
OPERATING PROCEDURE 19 2. Reception AUTOMATIC RECEIVE MODE In this mode, your facsimile unit operates without operator intervention. 1. OPERATING PROCEDURE MANUAL RECEIVE MODE In this mode, the telephone handset can be used for ordinary telephone calls. 1. Check "MANUAL-RECEIVE" is displayed on the LCD, It is displayed, press the AUTOMATON RECEPTION key to change to “MANUAL-RECEIVE". 2. Pick up the handles when the telephone rings. You can now speak to the person on the other end of the line as in a normal telephone call.

Automatic Dialing {using operating keys) In addition to ordinary facsimile transmission carried out by dialing the telephone, the FEW-800 by means of its autodidact allows various other dialing modes, These are rapid dialing, speed dialing, keyboard dialing, last number recall, and timer transmission. The autodidact has 52 memory location known as speed locations or speed numbers, each of which can be programmed with a facsimile telephone number, and company name.
22 OPERATING PROCEDURE TRANSMISSION TO A SECONDARY FACSIMILE UNIT When a remote unit is busy, during transmission for rapid dialing or speed dialing from 01 to 12, transmission can be made automatically to a secondary facsimile unit, provided that the secondary facsimile units telephone number has been entered in your machine. TRANSMISSION BY SPEED DIALING Up to 52 telephone number (including 12 rapid dialing numbers) can be entered or speed dialing.
OPERATING PROCEDURE 23 LAST NUMBER RECALL Your facsimile unit remembers the last telephone number dialed. So, repeated {transmission to the same location can be accomplished without having to re-enter the same telephone number. To recall the facsimile telephone number last called through the keyboard, follow this procedure. This function is disabled after multi pooling has been done. Automatic Transmission Reservation (timer transmission) With thug function, document(s) can be automatically sent at & pacified time to without an operator having to be present. OPERATING PROCEDURE {Clear] To clear an automatic transmission reservation which has already been set, follow the procedure described bellow. Voice Communication—Talk Function The talk mode can be initiated from ether the transmitting or receiving side, so that it may be used tc identify or make verbal contact with the other end. This function is available in G3 mode only. VOICE COMMUNICATION DURING AND AFTER OPERATION 1. When the TALK key is pressed during & sending or receiving operation, “TALK RESERVATION" is displayed on the LCD. When a page is completed, the unit enters talk mode. TALK Now at the remote unit 1.

Polling CONDITIONS FOR POLLING With the polling function, one facsimile unit is able to activate a remote facsimile unit so that documents can be sent from the remote unit without an operator being on hand. This function is available only in G2 mode. To foil unauthorized polling attempts, however, the FEW-800 facsimile is provided with a security function incorporating 1D numbers.
26 OPERATING PROCEDURE POLLING TRANSMISSION This function is used to transmit documents from your facsimile unit by operating a remote facsimile. 1. Enter PASS CODE (phone number) from a remote facsimile unit in your polling permission number. 2. Set the automatic receive mode. 3. Pace the documentation. = E 4. Press the POLLING key. The “POLL R RESERVED" is displayed on the LCD. POLLING SEND READY FOLL RESERVED 5. Transmission starts automatically upon receiving the polling request from a remote unit.
OPERATING PROCEDURE POLLING RECEPTION 20 This function is used lo receive documents set in a remote facsimile. The remote machine must be provided with the polling function and be set in audio receive mode. 1. Call the remote side. 2. Wait for the facsimile unit's answer back tone. 3. Press the POLLING key. 4. Reception Hang up the telephone handset after confirming that “POLLING” is displayed on the LCD. In this operation, the fine mode is automatically selected.
30 OPERATING PROCEDURE MULTIPLE POLLING (SERIAL POLLING) This function is used lo receive documents by consecutively calling up 10 20 remote facsimile telephone numbers that have been programmed in the auto dial serial polling speed location (no. 98). DIAL 5 3 | Coring) —Reception is carried out consecutively with remote facsimile telephone number displayed on the LCD. TIMER POLLING AND TIMER MULTIPLE POLLING Polling reception is possible from one or more remote machines at a specified time.
@ OTHER FEATURES 1. Copy Function The FEW-800 can make a sample copy of documents you may wish to transmit. This feature allows you to confirm how the copy would lock at a receiving machine. When “NO PAPER” is displayed on the LCD, no more reception Is possible. Immediately replace the paper roll with a new one. 1. Switch off power. MAINTENANCE BY OPERATOR 5. Align the paper with the marks cn the cutler guide and thread it through the guide slot. 6. Close the paper compartment cover. A clicking sound at the center of the document feeder indicates that the cover is properly closed. 7. Check that the machine s in standby mode by locking at the LCD 8. <6 MAINTENANCE BY OPERATOR CAUTIONS ON HANDLING RECORDING PAPER Pay attention to the following items when using the heat-sensitive recording paper for the FEW-600 facsimile unit. ® Do rot keep the recording paper in a place subject to high humidly or temperature. Store the heat-sensitive recording paper at temperatures no higher than 40°C (104°F} and at a humidly no higher than 85%. * Do not keep the recording paper in a place subject to direct sunlight, such as near a winnow.
MAINTENANCE BY OPERATOR a7 3. Cleaning CLEANING THE RECORDING HEAD AND WHITE PLATE A clean recording dean will improve the printing performance of your facsimile unit. Sometimes paper dust on the recording head may cause somewhat unclear reproduction. To avid this, clean the recording head once every three or four rolls by following this procedure. . 1. Open the paper compartment cover (refer to page 44). | 2. Wipe clean e recording head and white plate with a soft cloth dampened with ethyl alcohol.
