Using the Confidential Function
Sending a confidential fax
Before sending a confidential fax, make sure the receiving machine supports the confidential function
and has a confidential box and code programmed. Confidential transmission is not possible if the
receiving machine does not have confidential boxes, or if a confidential box has not been programmed
in the receiving machine.

In Fax mode, press the SPECIAL FUNCTION key.

Press the or key to select "SENDING OPTIONS" and then press
the OK key.
If a checkmark appears next to " SENDING OPTIONS", special transmission has
already been selected.
When special transmission is selected, you can press the key to cancel the selection.

Press the or key to select "CONFIDENTIAL TX" and then press
the OK key.
If a checkmark appears next to " CONFIDENTIAL TX", confidential transmission has
already been selected.

Enter the number of the confidential box in the receiving machine with
the numeric keys, and then press the OK key.

Enter the fax number of the receiving machine and then press the OK
key.

Perform the transmission. (See pages 28, 31)
Both memory transmission mode and direct transmission mode can be used.
Printing a fax received to a confidential box
When you receive a confidential fax, the confidential reception icon appears in the message display (See
page 13). Follow the steps below to print the fax.

In Fax mode, press the JOB STATUS key.

Press the or key to select "CONFIDENTIAL RX" and then press
the OK key.

Press the or key to select "CONFIDENTIAL" and then press the
OK key.

Press the or key to select the confidential box and then press the
OK key.
If a fax has been received to the confidential box, the confidential reception icon will
appear to the left of the box name.
