Confidential Transmission/Reception
CONFIDENTIAL
TRANSMISSION/RECEPTION
When a fax is sent by confidential transmission, it is received to the memory (a confidential box) of the
receiving fax machine. The fax cannot be printed until the correct confidential code is entered. This
function is convenient when sending important documents that you only want a specific person to see,
or when multiple departments share a single fax machine. In addition to sending confidential faxes, you
can also program a confidential box and code to receive confidential faxes.
This function can only be used when the other machine is a Sharp machine that supports confidential
transmission/reception. Check with the operator of the other machine to see if confidential
transmission/reception is possible.
Up to 10 confidential boxes can be programmed. A name up to 36 characters long can be assigned to
each box.
To use this function, the sending machine must have its sender's number programmed, and the
receiving machine must have a confidential box and code programmed.
When using memory transmission mode, Quick On-line can be used.
Confidential transmission is also possible in direct transmission mode.
Confidential boxes and codes
A confidential box is a box number for confidential fax reception, and a confidential code is an ID code
for printing. To receive a confidential fax, you must select a confidential box (2-digit number from 00 to
99) and program a 4-digit code from 0000 to 9999 for the box.
Confidential boxes and codes are programmed with the key operator program. (See page 165)
Important
To ensure confidentiality, the confidential code is not displayed in the message display. Be
sure not to forget the code. If you do happen to forget the code, you can use the key operator
program to print it out. (See page 144)
