Activating fax transmission
Place the original on the platen glass or in the SPF, adjust the original size, resolution, and exposure
settings as needed, and then follow the steps below.

Lift the extension phone and call the receiving party.

Press the START key.

Select "TX" with the or key and then press the OK key.

Replace the phone.
Activating fax reception
You can activate fax reception after answering a call on the extension phone by entering a remote code
(a 1-digit number followed by ). This is called "remote reception". Fax reception can be activated
after speaking on the phone or when you hear a fax tone through the phone.

This function cannot be used if you are on a pulse dial line and cannot issue tone signals from your
phone. Refer to your phone manual to see if your phone can issue tone signals.

This function cannot be used when you use the extension phone to place a call. (The function is used
to activate fax reception only when you answer an incoming call on the phone.)

Set the extension phone to issue tone signals.

Refer to your phone manual to issue tone signals.

If your phone already issues tone signals, proceed from step 2.

Enter "5", " ", and " " using the keypad of the extension phone.

A "ding-dong" sound is heard and fax reception is activated.

Replace the phone.

The number (5) for activating fax transmission and reception is called the remote number. This
number can be changed to any number from 0 to 9 with the key operator program. (See page
149)
