Device Management
Sharp offers a suite of remote
management software collectively called
the Printer Administration Suite. Bundled
with the standard network printing, the
Suite includes MFP Home Page and
Printer Administration Utility.
The Printer Administration Utility (PAU) is
a network tool designed to speed up the
installation and configuration of all
connected Sharp devices. It allows IT
managers to manage both Sharp and non-
Sharp SNMP-compliant printers over the
network right from their desktop.
Integrated with this software is the Printer
Alert Monitor. It allows the administrator or
key operator to set up a notification system
for whenever an error code is sent out
from the device.
Alerts can be set up as a sound alert or as
a pop up. The administrator is able to
choose which devices they want to monitor
and for which alert actions to be notified.
Sharp also provides E-mail RIC which lets
the administrator set up an automated
email response to certain actions at the
device.
The dealer can also be kept in the loop
now with emails being sent when toner
gets low or service calls are imminent.
Sharp also provides a LAN-based utility,
called Printer Status Monitor which
provides basic SNMP data on the device:
its current status, paper, and other
consumable levels. (See screens to the
right for examples.)
The Print Status Monitor provides information
relating to device status.
