BLADE CHANGE
Blades are extremely
sharp and can cause severe cuts. For your
protection, hold blade with thick leather work
glove only.
1. Remove blade bolt with impact wrench.
2. Remove blade assembly from deck and replace
blade in assembly.
3. Replace blade assembly with spindle cap over
hydraulic motor spindle.
4. Tighten blade bolt with impact wrench capable of
reaching 70 ft-lb torque.
BLADE SHARPENING
Blades may be sharpened by filing or grinding. When sharpening, maintain blade balance within 5/8 oz/in (19.4
g/cm). Failure to keep the blade balanced causes excess blade vibration, blade wear and shortened blade life,
and may harm other mechanical components of the machine as well.
To check blade balance
1. Determine if there is a lighter end.
2. Attach a 1/8 oz (3.9g) weight to the lighter end, 5" (127mm) from the center of the blade.
3. If the blade is adequately balanced, the weight should convert the light end into the heaviest end. If
needing correction, file or grind the heavy end to satisfy this balance test.
NOTES:
Do not overheat or weaken blades when sharpening.
Do not straighten bent blades.
If the lift portion of the blade is worn thin, replace with a new blade.
Replace cracked or bent blades.
Always use new Ransomes blades for replacement for greatest safety.
