Lithium battery storage areas should be clearly marked and provided with "Lith-X" or a Class D
fire extinguisher. Batteries could burst if subjected to excessive heating. In the event of fire, only
"Lith-X" or a Class D fire extinguisher should be used, as water will cause exposed lithium to
ignite. Signs should clearly state water is not to be used in case of fire.
