Serial Ports
The7401‐4xxxCeleron/PentiumIIIprocessorboardprovidestwoRS‐
232ports(9‐pinD‐shellconnectors,Ports1and2)directlyontheboard
andsupportstwoadditionalRS‐232ports.Ports3and4requirean
optionalharnessconnectiontotheboard.Ports1and3canbesupplied
with+12VDConPin9whenproperlysetupintheBIOS.Thetotal
powerdrawnbyPorts1and/or3mustbewithinthelimitsofthe
capabilitiesofthepowersupply.RefertothefollowingtableforRS‐232
pin‐outinformation.
TheBIOSpermitsflexibility
inmappingresources.However,afully‐
loadedsystem(2PCMCIAcardsthatrequireIRQs,fourserialportsin
use,USBinuse,parallelportinuse,andMSR)maynothaveenough
availableIRQstosupportallserialports.UseaUSBserialport
expandertoovercomethisPCarchitecturelimitation.
