Power Fail
The red power fail LED indicates a power supply module has failed as shown in Figure 5-9. The
second power supply module will take the load and keep the system running but the failed module
will need to be replaced. Refer to “Power Supply” on page 38 for details on replacing a power
supply. This LED should be off when the system is operating normally.

SATA Drive Carrier LEDs
Each SATA drive carrier has two LEDs:
• Blue: When illuminated, the blue LED on the SATA drive carrier indicates drive activity. A
connection to the SATA backplane enables this LED to blink on and off when that particular
drive is being accessed.
• Red: When illuminated, the red LED indicates a SATA drive failure. If one of the drives
fails, you should be notified by your system management software. When the red LED is
blinking, it indicates that the system is either building, initializing, or rebuilding RAID.
