BackingupandrestoringSDgroupsisasimple,quick,anderrorfreemethod
oftransferringSDgroupdefinitionsamongclustersorserversthatshare
storageorwhenmovingstoragebetweenservers/clusters.SDgroupsare
backedupasapartofthenormalserver/clusterconfigurationbackupprocess,
sobackingupSD
groupsisnotnecessaryforfailurerecovery.
BackingupSDgroupsimposesaveryslightmanagementoverhead,andmay
causeothermanagementfunctionstoslowdownslightlyduringtheshort
timethebackupisbeingmade.Thereshouldbenonoticeableeffectonfile
servingthroughput.
AswithbackingupSD
groups,restoringsavedSDgroupswillnotcausea
significantoverhead,buttherearerulesaboutwhenyoucanandcannot
importgroups.Forexample,youcannotimportagroupthatincludesSDs
thatareusedinastoragepoolthathascurrentlymountedfilesystems.For

Note:Whenmovingstoragebetweenstandaloneserversorclusters,beaware
thatSDdeviceIDsusuallychange,whichmaymakeitseemasifgroupshave
beenimportedincorrectly.

FromtheStorageManagementpage,selectSystemDriveGroups,then
clickBackup&RestoretodisplaytheSystemDriveGroupsBackup&
Restorepage.
2. Backuporrestore:
Tobackup:Clickbackup.Inthebrowser,specifythenameand
locationofthebackupfile,thenclickOK/Save(thebuttonsdisplayed
andthemethodyouusetosavethebackupfiledependonthebrowser
youuse).
Abackupfilenameissuggested,butyoucancustomizeit.The
