Creating System Drives
Whenyoursystemwasfirstinstalled,SDswerepre‐configuredbySGI.You
can,however,createadditionalSDsasneededwhenaddingdiskstopartially‐
populatedenclosures,addingexpansionenclosures,upgradingtohigher‐
capacitydisks,orwhenyouhaveunuseddisksinanenclosureandyouneed
tousethatcapacity.

AftercreatingadditionalSDs,youshouldplacetheminappropriateSD
groupsasdescribedinSystemDriveGroups,onpage27.
Caution:Beforecreatingsystemdrives,setasideatleastonedisktobeusedas
ahotspare.TheSMUwillautomaticallyconfigureahotspareofthecorrect
typeandsize.
1. NavigatetotheSystemDrivespage(Home>StorageManagement>
SystemDrives).
2. IntheSystemDrivespage,clickCreate.
3. Selectarack.
WhentheSelectRAIDRackpageisdisplayed,selectarack,thenclick
