2 Hardware Installations and
Upgrades
Before You Begin
Before working with your server product, pay close attention to the “Safety Information”
at the beginning of this manual.
Tools and Supplies Needed
• Phillips* (cross head) screwdrivers (#1 bit and #2 bit)
• Needle-nosed pliers
• Antistatic wrist strap and conductive foam pad
System References
All references to left, right, front, top, and bottom assume the reader is facing the front of
the server system as it would be positioned for normal operation.
Removing and Installing from a Rack
Two rack options are available to install the server system in a rack:
• Fixed-bracket kit
• Tool-less rail kit
Only the tool-less rail kit allows you to service the server system while installed in a rack.
The other rack option requires the system to be removed from the rack before servicing.
Note: Follow all safety guidelines while removing a system from a rack to avoid injury.
