Lowe’s Severe Weather Shutters
Painting Instructions
To achieve the best results when painting your plastic shutters, we recommend that you
first prepare the surface using Valspar Plastic Primer. Valspar Plastic Primer can typically be
found in the Lowe’s paint department. (See picture of primer below.)
Apply Valspar Plastic Primer according to the instructions on the can.
After waiting the required amount of time, paint can be applied to the shutters. For best
results, we recommend using an exterior oil base paint. A high-quality, exterior latex paint
also works well. Paint should be applied according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Note: Paint drying time will vary due to weather conditions. Paint may take up to 5-7 days to fully
dry. Because the shutter manufacturer has no control over the application of the primer and the
paint, painted shutters are not warranted by the manufacturer.
