Search engine optimization
Indexing involves the automatic collection of information about your Web
pages by search engines such as
Google, Yahoo!, Live Search, and many more.
By "harvesting" this information at the search engine, search engine users can
make use of this indexed information to obtain quick and accurate site search
results which match the search criteria entered by the user.
By default, the contents of each published Web page (especially heading text)
will be indexed. However, in an Internet world of billions of Web pages all
being constantly indexed, Web developers can optimize this indexing process
to allow a Web site's pages to appear higher in a user's search results.
