1. For a horizontal or vertical guide, click on the horizontal or vertical ruler,
respectively, at the position you want your guide to appear. Hold down
the Alt key before guide creation to produce a horizontal guide from a
vertical ruler and vice versa.
2. Drag onto the page while fine-tuning the guide into its position. A dotted
red line will appear which changes to a solid red line after releasing the
mouse button. You can use the rulers and Hintline to ensure your guide
is positioned accurately.
Guides can be manipulated in the following ways:
• To move a guide, drag it (the double arrow cursor shows; see above
example).
• To remove a guide, drag and drop it anywhere outside the page area.
• To lock ruler guides, choose Tools>Options... and select the Layout
option, then check Lock guide lines.
• To fine-position ruler guides, Click the button on the
Page context toolbar and select the Guides tab. You can use the tab to
create or delete individual guides. To delete all ruler guides at once, click
the Remove All button.
