Adding Dynamic Content 303
Database merge additional features
The use of database merging, whether using e-commerce or not, is enhanced
by using some additional features. These features may offer differing ways of
presenting record data or improve the navigability of merged pages, especially
between summary/full description pages.
Adding repeating HTML fragments
Repeating areas can be used to create simple drop-down menus, perhaps
listing products, options, or email addresses (below) derived from a database.
You can apply scripting to each option to initiate some action.
Remember that for combo boxes with a limited set of options you can use
WebPlus
forms instead (see p. 255).
To add a repeating HTML fragment:
1. Select
Insert Repeating HTML Fragment from the Database Merge
toolbar (switch on first).
2.
You'll see the Paste cursor. What you do next determines the initial
size and placement of the HTML fragment.
To insert the HTML fragment area at a default size, simply click the
mouse.
OR
To set the size of the area, drag out a region and release the mouse
button.
