Adjustment masks
While in Develop view, masking is used to "paint" regions of your photo
to which adjustments are either applied to or protected from. Without
masking, any adjustment is applied to all of the photo.
Two types of masking are possible in PhotoStack: standard masking
(above) and gradient masking (below). The former paints a region to
which the adjustment is applied to uniformly (or excluded from). The
latter applies a gradient that increases the intensity of the mask across
the region (and hence any adjustment).
In the above example, a gradient mask has been applied at the bottom of
the picture which allows an exposure adjustment to be utilized just
between the bottom of the photo and the horizon line.
