Operation Manual
Publishing and Sharing 187
• Via Kindle/Android phone: Transfer your published *.mobi
file by copying to your device via your USB port. Alternatively,
you can send your file via email directly to your device.
• Via ePub physical device/Android phone: Like Kindle devices,
you can transfer your *.epub file to your device via USB.
Setting output formats and alternate text for
individual objects
Like in HTML publishing, you can select an object and force it to be
converted to a picture on publishing. You would do this to ensure
conformance to eBook standards, perhaps after a failed preflight check.
Creating a book cover
You can include a picture when you export your publication which will
act as a front cover for your eBook. The picture will need to be created
before you can fully complete the eBook exporting process.
Your cover can be designed in several ways which may include:
• Designing a cover using graphics, photos, artistic text and
assets within a PagePlus publication and then exporting the
page (or specific objects) as a picture. See Exporting as a
picture on p. 188 for details.
If you intend on exporting your eBook as a *.mobi (for Kindle), you
can design your cover on the first page of your publication and it
will automatically be output as your eBook cover. If you design
using floating objects (not placed in a text frame), this will prevent
them appearing within the body of the eBook. Note: this method of
cover design will display errors during preflight. See Preflight check
on p. 169 and eBook publishing warnings in PagePlus Help for more
information.
