60 Working with Pages
For simple publications, it's likely that the same page format is used (e.g.,
Arabic numerals throughout). However, for more complex publications,
different formats can be used for different page ranges, with each page range
belonging to its own publication section.
To create mixed page number formats:
1. On the Format menu, choose Page Number Format....
2. From the dialog's Section list box, select the page range within which
you want to create a new number format.
3. Click Add, then enter a page from which to start a new section.
4. With the new section created (and selected), choose a different Style.
As an example, you could apply Roman numerals to your Table of
Contents pages.
5. Repeat the process for additional sections. Use Delete to remove a
selected section.
Each section can have its own starting page number for its page numbering
sequence. If the first section is selected, a Continue from previous chapter
option is shown (if part of a book, the numbering is continued from a previous
chapter; otherwise 1 is assumed). For any subsequent selected section, the
option Continue from previous section is used. This can be unchecked,
allowing for independent starting page numbers per section.
