Chapter 4: Using the Pro 3 with External Devices
Sequential
4. Turn the sustain knob on the amplier envelope to 127.
5. Turn the sustain knob on the lter envelope to 127.
6. Press the source button in the Modulation section.
7. With Soft Knob 2 (source) choose env follow as the source.
8. With Soft Knob 4 (destination) choose env vca amt as the destination.
9. With Soft Knob 1 (edit mod) choose a second available mod slot.
10. With Soft Knob 2 (source) choose env follow as the source.
11. With Soft Knob 4 (destination) choose cutoff as the destination.
12. Use Soft Knob 3 to adjust the modulation amount for both modulation
routings. Try a setting of +120 for the env vca amount parameter and a
setting of +90 for the cutoff parameter.
13. Play the external audio source.
14. Turn up the ext audio knob in the Mixer section of the Pro 3. (If you
need to further boost the signal, adjust input level and input gain.
When you adjust the ext audio knob in the mixer, these controls appear
in the display.
15. Set the in gate thresh to 100. You can adjust this later if necessary.
16. As the external audio source continues to play, show the Envelope
Follower’s attack and release parameters in the display by turning
the ext audio knob in the mixer. Try an attack setting of 5 and release
setting of 38.
17. Adjust the front panel lter cutoff and resonance parameters. Try a
cutoff setting of 0 and resonance setting of 160.
18. Adjust any other parameters such as distortion and delay to tailor the
sound.
Connect an expression pedal to the Pro 3 and route it to lter cutoff in the mod
matrix for more real-time control over the wah effect.
