3.2. Configuring the Terminal Program
A terminal program like HyperTerminal or Tera Term (a free open source terminal
program) communicates with the Smart-Reach unit through the serial port. Use
the appropriate terminal program for your Windows operating system.
To set up HyperTerminal:
1. Click on Start> All> Programs> Accessories> Communications>
HyperTerminal.
The New Connection window appears.
2. Type a name for the connection.
3. Click OK.
4. In the Com Port properties window, enter the standard settings for the
terminal emulator program described in Table 3-1.
To set up Tera Term:
1. If you choose to use the Tera Term program, you can download it from
http://www.neocom.ca. Follow the on-screen instructions for installing onto
the computer.
2. Double click on the Tera Term icon to open the program.
3. In the File menu, click New Connection.
