Specifications
The Juniper M-xxx Routers support the robust routing of IP datagrams over ATM
OC-3/STM1 and ATM OC-12/STM4 interfaces. Point-to-multipoint support is
available.
RFC 1483 is supported. Routing mode is supported, bridging mode is currently
not supported.
§ VCI addresses can be 0-255
§ VPI addresses can be 1-4090
The following service categories are supported by current generation PICs:
§ UBR, Unspecified Bit-Rate Service
§ VBR-nrt, Variable Bit-Rate, non-real-time Service
UBR service is the default operation per VC. VBR-nrt service is configurable per
VC supporting the following traffic shaping parameters:
Parameter ATM OC-3 Range ATM OC-12 Range
Peak Rate 33kbps to 138Mbps 33kbps to 276Mbps
Sustained Rate 33kbps to 138Mbps 33kbps to 276Mbps
Burst Length 1 to 255 cells 1 to 255 cells
Queue Limit 1 to 16383 packets 1 to 16383 packets
Both Juniper ATM STM-1 and ATM STM-4 Single-Mode, Intermediate Reach
PICs provide SC connectors in compliance with ITU-T G.957.
Juniper provides two models of ATM OC3/STM1 PICs as follows:
§ 2-port ATM OC3/STM1 PIC, Single-Mode, Intermediate Reach
§ 2-port ATM OC3/STM1 PIC, Multi-Mode
Juniper provides two models of ATM OC12/STM4 PICs as follows:
§ 1-port ATM OC12/STM4 PIC, Single-Mode, Intermediate Reach
§ 1-port ATM OC12/STM4 PIC, Multi-Mode
Juniper’s ATM STM-1 and ATM STM-4 PICs are compliant with ITU-T I.432.
PVC-only support is provided.
