BRAKE ASSEMBLIES
Notes:
1.Uni-servo hydraulic brakes utilize a single acting wheel cylinder. When backing up with a surge
mechanism, however, if there is more brake force on the trailer than the tow vehicle can override,
no trailer backing is possible. The "free backing" brake was developed to allow backing in this sit-
uation, where the primary shoe rotates away from the drum when backing up
2.Duo-servo hydraulic brakes utilize a dual piston wheel cylinder. This type of brake is typically
found in vacuum/hydraulic braking systems
3. “Sharkskin” coated brakes are designed to perform in salt water.
