We receive a lot of phone calls asking why “some pex is less expensive” and “what is Class
A pex?” We can’t give that much information even if we had several pages to work with.
Bottom line is... you get what you pay for! And with the high temperatures we are working
with this is not the place to try to save a couple dollars.
SharkBite Pex is excellent and will last a lifetime!
SharkBite® Pex tubing is a cross-linked polyethylene tubing for a wide range of residential
and commercial plumbing applications. SharkBite® Pex tubing manufactured without an
oxygen barrier is used for potable water systems. SharkBite® Pex tubing manufactured
with an oxygen barrier is used for radiant flooring and hydronic heating applications. It is
manufactured with an oxygen diffusion barrier applied to the exterior. It limits oxygen per-
meation through the tubing wall in hydronic heating applications and prevents corrosion of
ferrous metal parts in the heating system.
