Installation Environment
Power: Ensure that the installation sites AC power is stable and within the rated voltage of the 12
Volt DC power supply. If the site’s AC power is likely to have spikes or power dips, use power line
conditioning or an Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS).
Ventilation: Ensure that the location planned for the installation of the unit is well ventilated. Take
note of the locations of the cooling vents in the unit’s enclosure, and ensure that they are not
obstructed.
Temperature: Consider the unit’s operating temperature (0 to 40 °C) and non-condensing humidity
specifications (10% to 80%) before choosing an installation location. Extremes of heat or cold
beyond the specified operating temperature limits may cause the unit to fail. Do not install the unit
on top of other hot equipment. Leave space between rack mounted units.
Moisture: Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Moisture can damage the internal components.
Do not install the unit near sources of water.
Chassis: Other equipment may be placed on top of the unit if it weighs less than 35 pounds (16
kilograms).
Handling Hard Disks: This unit has a built-in hard disk (HD). Be sure to observe the following
points carefully when operating, setting up, and servicing the unit.
Do not subject the unit to shocks or vibration. Shocks and vibration may damage the HD or cause
corruption of the data stored on the unit.
Do not move the unit while the power is turned on.
Do not move the unit for 30 seconds after tuning off the power.
When transporting the unit, pack it securely using the original packing materials.
