More severe skin reactions such as hives, welts, or blisters
are rare.
If your skin itches, please resist the urge to scratch as this
will increase irritation. Wait at least 1 day before placing
device over the same area.
Protect Your Skin and Let it Heal if Irritation Develops
If you experience skin irritation or generally have sensitive skin,
you may consider applying a skin protectant before placing the
device and electrode on your leg. Skin protectants are available
as wipes, swabs, or sprays. They are safe and serve as a barrier
between your skin and the electrode, reducing the likelihood of
irritation. They also increase adhesion of the electrode to your
skin. Protectants that work well include:
• 3M Cavilon™ No Sting Barrier Film
• Smith & Nephew SKIN-PREP
®
• Smith & Nephew No-Sting SKIN-PREP
®
These products are available online, including www.amazon.com.
If skin irritation develops then you should not place the device
over the irritated area until it completely heals. You may place
the device on the other leg or use alternate locations as shown in
Appendix D.
