allow the Alert appliance read/write privileges to this directory
The following example shows how to modify the /etc/exports file on a UNIX or Linux NFS server. This
example allows the Alert appliance (172.17.2.100) to have read and write privileges (rw) to a directory
named (/mnt/alert) on the NFS server:
/mnt/alert 172.17.2.100(rw,no_root_squash)
After making changes to the /etc/exports file on the NFS server you must restart the NFS service for the
changes to take effect.
To configure the Alert appliance for recording log files on a NFS server, follow the steps below and refer to
Figure 8a below:
1. Login to the Alert web interface as admin.
2. Click on the Administration hyperlink located on the left side of the Monitor List.
3. Scroll down to the table Logging Settings and click the checkbox Log Data to NFS Server.
4. In the field NFS Server IP or Host Name, enter the IP address or host name of the remote NFS
server.
5. In the field NFS Server Volume Path, enter the existing directory path on the NFS server that Alert
has permission to record its log files (e.g. /mnt/alert). Before proceeding, insure that the NFS server
has this directory path and that the Alert appliance is named and permitted read/write privileges.
6. Click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
