ARCHITECT‘S SPECIFICATION
A digital discussion system comprised of a central control unit and remote delegate and chairperson discussion units is
provided; optional power supplies/system expanders shall be provided. The digital discussion system shall be capable of
powering and controlling up to 400 connected delegate and chairperson units (using optional power supplies/expander
units). The digital discussion system central control unit shall provide an intuitive integrated software control display
interface; the graphical user menu shall display in 13 languages and allow fault monitoring and error diagnostics, and
control of the conference. Alternatively, the central control unit software shall be accessible by connecting a standard
VGA monitor, keyboard and mouse (USB). An Ethernet port shall be provided for network connection and control through
third party digital control systems (Crestron, AMX, etc.). USB recording capability shall be provided for the conferencing
program audio. The central control unit shall include a low-noise cooling fan for use directly in meeting rooms without
noise disturbance.
The digital delegate unit and the digital chairperson unit shall offer high speech-intelligibility. The digital delegate unit
and the digital chairperson unit shall have a modern chassis design. The digital delegate unit and the digital chairperson
unit shall be equipped with a goose-neck microphone with a super-cardioid capsule; the units shall provide a twin-loud-
speaker system.
Interconnection of the central control unit and the digital delegate units and the digital chairperson units shall be accom-
plished using standard Category 5 cables; connections underneath the digital delegate unit and the digital chairperson
unit shall be provided for hidden cabling connections that shall be optionally secured with strain reliefs for fixed installa-
tions.
The digital discussion system central control unit shall be capable of powering and controlling up to 40 stand alone digital
delegate units and/or the digital chairperson units (depending on cable length). The addition of optional cascadable pow-
er supply units shall allow the expansion of the conferencing system to up to 400 digital delegate units and/or the digital
chairperson units to the central control unit; use of the optional power supply unit shall allow redundant ring-cabling on
its four conference ports, providing increased failure-safety between the central control unit and the digital delegate units
and the digital chairperson units.
The operating voltage of the proprietary control bus shall be 52.8 V⎓. Audio frequency response of the system shall be
100 – 14,000 Hz; total harmonic distortion shall be < 0.01% A-Weighted at +6 dBV in/out. Audio signal input voltage range
shall be -18 to +18 dBu (XLR in); maximum output level shall be +10 dBV. Signal-to-noise ratio shall be >80 dB A-Weighted
at +18 dBV.
Operating temperature shall be from +5 °C to +50 °C (+41 °F to +122 °F). Unit housing dimensions shall be as follows: Cen-
tral control unit, 417 x 100 x 345 mm (16.4" x 3.94" x 13.58"); Digital delegate unit and the digital chairperson unit, 185 x 63
x 140 mm (7.28" x 2.48" x 5.51"); Power supply unit, 417 x 100 x 168 mm (16.4" x 3.94" x 6.61").
Approximate unit weights shall be as follows: Central control unit, 6,500 g (14.3 lbs); Digital delegate unit and the digital
chairperson unit, 700 g (1.5 lbs); Power supply unit, 4,600 g (10.1 lbs).
All units shall be manufactured by Sennheiser and shall be as follows:
Central control unit shall be type ADN CU1; Chairperson unit shall be type ADN C1; Delegate unit shall be type ADN D1;
Power supply unit shall be type ADN PS.
