Messaging
The main Chat screen displays three views:
•Conversations - Start a conversation with one of
your chat contacts. This can be thought of as a
private chat room.
• Chat Contacts - Add and remove details for your
chat contacts.
•Chat Groups - Start a conversation with a group
of your chat contacts. This can be thought of as a
general chat room.
To open one of these views, press Select . Once
opened, you can navigate between the views using
the [ and ] joypad keys.
Using Instant Messaging

To add a chat contact
1. Go to the Chat Contacts view, press
Options g and select Create new.
2. Enter the nick name, real name and user ID for
the contact and press Done d.

To delete a contact
1. In the Chat Contacts list, use the : and ;
keys to scroll to the contact's name, press
Options g, and then select Delete.
2. You will be asked to confirm, press Yes g to
delete the contact.

To start/end a conversation
1. Log in to Instant Messaging and go to the
Conversations view. A list of all active
conversations is displayed.
2. Press Options g, select New conversation
and then:
• Select recipient to select one of your chat
contacts, or
• Enter user ID to enter a specific user ID for a
recipient.
3. Once you have started a conversation
successfully, you can send instant messages.
Simply enter your message, press Options g
and select Send.

4. To end a conversation, press Options g and
select End conversation.

To create a group
1. Go to the Chat Groups view, press Options g
and select Create new group.
2. Enter the details for the group as listed below:
•Group name - Enter a name for the group.
•Group ID - Enter a unique ID for the group.
•Topic - Enter a topic.
•Welcome note - Enter a message that will be
displayed when someone joins the group.
•Group size - Enter the maximum number of
people who can join the group.
• Allow search - Choose whether to allow this
group to be displayed if another person performs
a search for groups.
