Introduction Thank you for purchasing the IP-260/263 Dryer 64 that is exclusively used for our Solvent Inkjet Printer IP-6600. The unit is designed to effectively dry media (ink) printed by and released from the printer. This aims to maximize the fast printing performance (16 m2/hour) that characterizes our Solvent Inkjet Printer IP-6600. Features: • High-speed media (ink) drying in response to fast printing (16 m2/hour.
Users can install the dryer in the IP-6600. To maximize the drying performance of this unit, correctly use it in accordance with the instructions described in this manual. Deliverables Make sure that the following items are present. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact the shop where you purchases the product or the service dealer.
Safety Precautions The following symbols are used in this manual to ensure the proper use of the dryer and to prevent the dryer from being damaged. Follow the instructions marked with these symbols. WARNING Serious personal injury or death: Failure to follow the guidelines marked with this symbol could result in serious personal injury or death.
WARNING Use the power supply voltage specified on the nameplate. DO NOT plug several devices into a single electrical outlet as this might result in fire or electric shock. Make sure the dryer is well grounded. If not, a short circuit may cause fire or electrical shock. DO NOT disassemble or remodel the dryer. DO NOT repair the dryer by yourself. Doing so may cause fire, electric shock or other accidents. DO NOT damage, break, process, or heat the power cable.
WARNING Power OFF the dryer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet in any of the following cases: • When putting your hands inside the dryer. • Smoke, strange noise or smells generate from the dryer. • A piece of metal or any liquid touches the internal parts or slot of the dryer. • An error requiring service by a service center occurs. CAUTION Handle the dryer with care because they are very heavy. If you drop them, it could lead to personal injury.
Handling Precautions Power Supply 1. Install the dryer near an easily accessible electrical outlet. 2. Do not provide power to the dryer through the same power line as for noise-generating devices, such as a motor. 3. The power supply voltage must be 230 VAC. 4. Connect the power cable to an electrical outlet. Do not plug several devices into a single electrical outlet. Dryer 1. Do not place anything on top of the dryer. Do not rest your elbows on the dryer. 2.

2-2 Operational Environment Use the dryer under the following operational environment.
2-3 Pluging the Power Cord and Turning ON/OFF the Dryer Plug the power cord of the dryer into the inlet after installing the dryer in the printer. NOTE The power specifications of the dryer are shown below. - Power voltage: 230 VAC ± 10 % - Power frequency: 50 Hz ± 1 Hz - Grounding: D class grounding (The 3rd class grounding) Always use power supply matched with the power specifications. Section 4 Installing / Uninstalling Media This Section explains how to install or uninstall media when the dryer is used. 4-1 Installing Media When the dryer is used, install media according to the following procedures after attaching the fan vacuum positioning bar to the printer. For procedures before attaching the fan vacuum positioning bar, see IP-6600 User’s Guide, Section 2 Replacing Media. ■ When using the direct media release function 1.
2. Feed media until the media is out from the media outlet during feed operation on the operation panel. See IP-6600 User’s Guide, Section 3 Operation Panel Menu Operation. (Feed Menu) ■ When using the winding device When the dryer using, install media according to the following procedures after installing the paper tube together with the leading paper in the winding unit.
2. Feed the media using the feed menu on the printer’s operation panel so that the media can be wound up. See IP-6600 User’s Guide, Section 3 Operation Panel Menu Operation. (Feed Menu) 3. Tape the edge of the paper on the lead paper at three positions: both sides and center. Tape Lead media 4. Manually turn the flange in the direction of winding to wind the paper slightly.
5. Verify the positioning between media and the winding sensor is correct. If it is wrong, install the media correctly. Do not pass media under the winding sensor arm. Winding sensor arm 6. Attach the dryer to the printer. Position of the right and left legs of the dryer using the positioning rubber plate against the right and left legs of the printer. (See the following figure). Lock right and left casters of the dryer.
4-2 Uninstalling Media ■ When using the direct media release function Refer to IP-6600 User’s Guide, Section 2 Replacing Media. ■ When using the winding device 1. Release the casters of the dryer and move the dryer to the printer from the rear side of the printer using the right and left handles. Printer Handle Handle Release Dryer 2. 3. Cut the media using a cutter. 4. Pull out the media that is wound on the winding device by turning the flange and then cut it using a cutter or remove wholeprinted out media together with the media winding tube not to give forcible power to the media. Frange NOTE - Do not pull the media forcibly. If doing so, it may cause print quality problems by rubbing of media.
Section 5 Using the Timer This Section explains how to use the timer. 1. Turn off (○) the breaker switch of the dryer. Breaker switch 2. Turn the timer switch on. Timer switch Timer preset dial 3. Preset the time up time of the off-timer using the timer preset dial. 4. Turn on (│) the breaker switch of the dryer. • HINT • 14 The timer is turned off at the preset time when the timer counts up form the turning on the breaker switch of the dryer.
Section 6 Attaching the Exhaust Attachments This Section explains how to attach the exhaust attachments to the dryer. Attach them according to the following procedures. 1. Attach the exhausting pipe of the exhaust attachments to the dryer with screws. Exhausting pipe 2. Attach the three exhausting pipe supports of the exhaust attachments to the dryer with screws. Exhausting pipe support NOTE - Excessively rising exhausting airflow makes it hard to increase heater temperature.
Section 7 Maintenance and Cleaning 7-1 Maintenance Regular inspections of the dryer are performed at the same time as the IP-6600 printer’s. If an error occurs, service personnel is dispatched to remove the error at customer’s site. If the error cannot be removed at the site, send back the dryer or its parts to the factory to fix the error. 7-2 Cleaning Outer Case If the outer case of the dryer is stained, clean it with a soft cloth soaked in water or water downed neutral detergent.
