Faults
When a Fault occurs, the default User Interface screen is replaced by the Fault
Screen (Figure 56) which displays a warning triangle and a short description
of the fault. The fault message will be displayed until the SE-3 Patroller powers
off. For all faults, the motor drives are disabled but power is still available.
Rider Detect Mismatch/Drive Enable Hardware Fault
If you see either of these fault messages displayed, there could be a problem
with the rider detect mat. The redundant rider detection sensor outputs do
not match each other. This can occur if light pressure is applied to the rider
detect mat such that one sensor is engaged and the other is not.
Remove any objects from on top of the Rider Detect Mat. Power the SE-3
Patroller off and then on again (p. 34, 38). Make sure the rider is within the
recommended weight range and standing centered on the Rider Detect Mat
(see "Segway SE-3 Patroller Speciļ¬cations," p. 15). If the fault reoccurs,
contact an Authorized Segway Dealer or Distributor for service.
Most faults indicate that the SE-3 Patroller needs to be serviced. Power cycling the vehicle (turning it OFF then ON) will clear the fault, but it will
reappear if the fault condition still exists. If a fault occurs, do not attempt to drive the SE-3 Patroller. Contact an Authorized Segway Dealer or
Distributor, or contact Segway Customer Care. For a list of Authorized Dealers and Distributors, visit www.segway.com.
