Storing the Segway SE-3 Patroller
To store the Segway SE-3 Patroller for Winter or long periods of time, do the following to ensure it will always be ready to supply you with
maximum performance:
SE-3 Patroller
• Store the SE-3 Patroller (and its Battery Module) indoors, in a place that is free of moisture and humidity, with an ambient temperature
of at least -4° F/-20° C or above.
• Clean the SE-3 Patroller.
• Inflate the tires to the proper pressure (p. 60).
• You may want to cover the SE-3 Patroller to prevent dust accumulation.
SE-3 Patroller Battery Module
• Fully charge the Battery Module for at least 12 hours once a month, or after every 12 hours of operation—whichever comes first. Charge
the Battery Module only when it is within the specified charging temperature range (p. 47).
• Even if you will not be using the SE-3 Patroller for an extended period of time, you should leave it plugged into AC power. Otherwise the
Battery Module could fully discharge over time, causing permanent damage.
• If storing the SE-3 Patroller longer than 1 month, remove the batteries—but be sure to charge them at least every 2 months.
• If storage temperature is below 32° F/0° C, do not charge the Battery Module. Instead, bring it into a warm (above 50° F/10° C is
optimal) environment for charging. Doing so will ensure optimal battery life and performance.
CAUTION
Failure to charge the Battery Module could result in permanent damage. Left unplugged, the Battery Module could fully discharge over time,
causing permanent damage. Use only the built-in SE-3 Patroller charger or charging devices approved by Segway.
