5.Manually adjusting the packing pressure can be done by increasing or decreasing the
packingpressureswitchontheswitchbox.
NOTE: In order to get the proper packing and penetrating forces per field, we recommend
lowering the opener shank pressure from the tractor at the beginning of each field.Every
new Seed Hawk toolbar manufactured leaves with the opener shank pressure set at
approximately1000PSI.Thechain between theseed and fertilizerknifewillbetightwhen
applying the proper amount of pressure to the opener shank.Once the knives get tight,
notice the shank pressure gauge and the reading.In good seeding conditions, add an
additional 200 PSI to the system.When seeding small seeds such as CANOLA in wet
conditions, adding an additional 200 PSI is not recommended.This would cause over
compaction.Maxpackingpressureis1500PSI.
6.Tomanuallydisengagingtheopenershanks,turn“MASTER”switchtotheoffposition.The
operatormust be driving over previously seeded area to automaticallydisengage the opener
shanksusingsectionalcontrol.REFERTOSECTION4.5,pertainingtothecontrolsystembeing
used.
NOTE: ALWAYS ENSURE THAT THE OPENER SHANK IS MAINTAINING SEED AND FERTILIZER
SEPERATION.SEEDHAWKINC.RECOMMENDSCHECKINGTHEACTUALSEEDANDFERTILIZER
SEPERATON IN EACH FIELD.SOILS VARY, MOISTURE CONDITIONS VARY.OVER TIME THE
OPENERBOLTS IFNOTTIGHTENEDONAYEARLYBASISWILLFUNCTIONDIFFERENTLYFROM
THENEWMACHINE,SEEDANDFERTILIZERSEPERATIONMAYCHANGE.

2.Reversetheleverdirectionin thetractorcabthattheGREENbandedhosesarehooked,this
willallowthewingstofoldupintotransportposition.
