Using Granular Inoculant Performance in Air Seeders
The 9 recommendations below have been assembled with the cooperation of various
equipment manufacturers and our product labels. Use this as s a checklist to maximize
granular performance with air seeders.
1) ProductinTankOvernight–Useuporremoveanyunusedgranulesfromthetankat
theendoftheday.DONOTallowgranulestositintankovernightastoavoidmoisture
migration(takeonhumidityinair).

2) Maintenance‐Priortoseeding,checktank
lidseals(airleaks)oneverycompartment,
plasticrollersforsignsofwear.Replaceanywornrollersorbrokentankseals.

3) InoculantRequiresDedicatedTank–Donotmixgranularinoculantincombinationwith
seed,granularpesticidesfertilizersinasingletank.Toensurecorrectapplicationrates
areapplied,
granularinoculantsmustbeplacedinadedicatedtank.

4) FillingAirSeederTank–Makesuretocheckyourinoculantproductlabelfor
recommendedhandling.

5) AmountofInoculantinTank–DONOTfilltanktomorethanhalfcapacity.Thebest
approachistomatchseedacresto
inoculantacrestoensureyouarecheckinginoculant
tankeve rytimeyouloadseed.
6) Calibration–Whencalibrating yourownairseeder,makesuretocheckinformationon
theinoclantbagsothatyoucanfollowtheproperlineonyourseederratechartand
seederowner’smanual.Makesuretodoacalibrationwithyourinoculantatthestart
ofeveryseasonwiththebagsandthespecificproductthatyouhave.

7) MeteringSystem–Regularlycheckmeteringsystemtoensureproperproductflow.
Checkyourtankmoreoftenwhenseedinginhigh
humidityconditions.Alsocheck
distributorca psregularlyastherecouldpossiblybebuildupontheundersideofthe
cap.Environmentalconditionsmayaffectproductflowability.

8) PressureTest‐Aregularpressuretestisveryimportant,andcanbedoneinverylittle
timebycontactingyourequipmentdealerfor
details.

9) Screen‐Makesureyouhaveascreeninthetopofyourtanktopreventforeignobjects
fromgettinginthetank.
