Disclaimer The data presented in this manual for calibration numbers have been obtained by Seed Hawk Inc. from factory testing as well as field testing and from customers. These values are based on averages obtained and do not necessarily account for temperature, density, moisture content, seed size, shape or treatment.
The calibration numbers provided are a starting point only, application rate verification is needed and highly recommended. Modification to the calibration number is needed to achieve desired accuracy. Once accurate application rates are achieved, it is highly recommended that these values are recorded in the pages provided for future reference.

NOTE The “Calibration Numbers Chart” is a starting point ONLY. Fine tuning of the calibration number is necessary to achieve desired accuracy. Use the “Rate Check Procedure” to further verify calibration number accuracy. (Pg. 20) If desired product is not present in the “Calibration Numbers Chart” a static calibration is needed. See “Static Calibration Procedure” relating to your control system. (Loup III or Seed Hawk Viper Pro™) THIS BOOKLET PERTAINS TO HYDRAULIC DRIVE SYSTEMS ONLY.
2.0 Modifying Calibration Weight 2.1 Loup III Hydraulic Drive Select "Rate Controller Meter Setup" in the Menu Settings. Using the soft keys on the right side of monitor select the desired meter to modify.
2.2 Modifying Calibration Weight - Viper Pro™ Select "Product control" Select desired meter to modify. Select the Meter (Node) settings. Modify “Cal Weight” using the recommended number from the Calibration Number Chart.
3.0 Calibration 3.1 Pre- Calibration NOTE: Wing down pressure circuit must be active to operate hydraulic drive motors and meter gates (if equipped). If operating an SCT® equipped machine, ensure meter gates are fully open for proper product flow. NOTE: All Meters on aircart must be individually calibrated. Calibrations must be done each time a crop is changed. Measure and record the weight of the empty calibration bucket.
3.2 Calibration Summary - Loup III 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
3.3 Calibration Procedure - Loup III Step 1: Select "Meter Calibration" from the Menu Settings. Step 2: Select the desired meter to calibrate. Step 3: Set to the desired shaft speed and select "Prime" NOTE: It is important to calibrate as close to the actual seeding RPM of the roller. Reference the “Roller RPM Chart” to get an approximate roller RPM for the specific roller and drill width.
Step 4: Meter will turn 2 revolutions to ensure meter roller is full of product. Step 5: Empty product from calibration bucket caught during the Prime cycle. Reposition calibration bucket under meter and select "Calibrate" Step 6: Meter will begin to turn.
Step 7: Enter the total weight of product caught minus the weight of the empty calibration bucket. Select "OK" when finished. Step 8: Calibration for this meter is now complete, repeat steps to calibrate remaining meters. ATTENTION: DO NOT include the weight of the calibration bucket in the metered weight value. The monitor MUST be powered down properly by pressing and holding the power button until the monitor powers down. Failure to do so will result in lost data.
3.4 Calibration Summary - Viper Pro™ ATTENTION: Exit to the Seed Hawk Viper Pro Main Menu before powering up the Remote Calibration Console. 1. 2. 3. 4. Quick Start Calibration Power up Remote Calibration console. Select Desired Meter to calibrate and select. Prime Roller. Begin Calibration and enter weight of product.
3.5 Calibration Procedure - Viper Pro™ ATTENTION: Before a meter calibration can be done the implement width must be entered and the speed calibration must be completed (See Section Setup Wizard and Calculating the speed Calibration sections of your Seed Hawk Viper Pro™ Manual). ATTENTION: Exit to the Seed Hawk Viper Pro™ Main Menu on the Viper monitor before powering up the Remote Calibration Console. NOTE: For convenient calibration, use the remote calibration console that attaches to the tank harness.
To begin the remote calibration of the meters mount the remote calibration console on the ram-ball and attach the electrical connector. Turn the console on using the blue power button After turning on the remote calibration console, the bin selection screen is displayed. Using the soft keys select the bin which corresponds to meter to be calibrated and select “ENTER”. Select “BEGIN” to start the calibration process.
The meter needs to be primed before calibration begins to ensure full product flow during calibration. Select “PRIME METER ROLLER” to prime the meter. Press the “INC” button to increase the PWM output this will increase the speed of the roller. Use the “INC” and “DEC” buttons to achieve the desired roller RPM. Reference the RPM Chart to get an approximate RPM the roller will be turning during seeding. Once the meter is primed (at least 2 revolutions) select “STOP”.
Toggle to “START CALIBRATION” and select “ENTER”, this will cause the roller to turn at the same RPM as set in the Prime step. Once a sample is collected (the larger the sample the more accurate the calibration) Select “END”, this will stop the roller. Weigh the filled calibration bucket, enter the weight of the product caught. Toggle the “LEFT” and “RIGHT” keys moving the arrow under the desired digit to edit, select “ENTER” to modify the digit. Toggle between “INC” and “DEC” to change the digit value.
Once the weight is entered, toggle to the far RIGHT until “SEND” appears. Select “SEND” to save the calibration number to the Viper Pro™. Repeat the steps for the remaining meters. To turn OFF the remote calibration console, press and hold the blue power button until the monitor powers down. NOTE: DO NOT include the weight of the calibration bucket in the metered weight value. Information is instantly sent to the Product Node.

5.0 Rate Check Procedure NOTE: Seed size, seed type, seed coatings, seeding speed and other variables all have an effect on the actual product application rate This Rate Check calculation compares actual weight of product seeded to actual acres applied. For best results weighing product is recommended. Step 1: Fill tank with a known amount of product. Step 2: Enter in a calibration number from the “Calibration Numbers Chart”, if product is not listed perform a static calibration.
Rate Check tips: Weighing the product going into the tank will ensure greater accuracy. Use attached operator worksheets for keeping important information documented ie; Cal weights, Application rates, Fan Speeds, Field Condition notes etc. For low rate products (Under 10/lb/ac) ie; Canola - Do a Rate Check with 2 x 50lb bags seed until empty, add two more bags and repeat Rate Check procedure. Repeating the procedure increases the accuracy of the Rate Check.
Rate Check Procedure Example 1: Target Rate: 135 lb/ac Cal Weight: 3.5 lb/rev Acres Applied (A): 8 acres Weight of Product Used : 1160lbs Actual Rate = = = Actual Rate = 145 lb/ac Correction Factor = = = Correction Factor (CF) = 1.074 Adjust Cal Weight = . ℎ × = 3.5 × 1.074 = New Cal Weight = 3.

*Please follow guidelines below if using Granular Inoculants* Using Granular Inoculant Performance in Air Seeders The 9 recommendations below have been assembled with the cooperation of various equipment manufacturers and our product labels. Use this as s a checklist to maximize granular performance with air seeders. 1) Product in Tank Overnight – Use up or remove any unused granules from the tank at the end of the day.
