5.8 LIQUID FERTILIZER APPLICATION RATES

PUMP

Perform the following steps to

ensure that the liquid fertilizer

pump is calibrated properly:

1. Set the pointer, 1 FIG. 18,

on the metering pump to a

setting that corresponds

to the desired liquid

application rate.

2. Before seeding,

accurately measure or

carefully estimate the

amount of liquid in the

liquid fertilizer tank and

note the beginning area

reading on the monitor

display.

3. Seed a significantly large

area. Stop and again

measure or estimate the

amount of liquid remaining

in the tank and note the

area covered.

4. Use the following formula

to calculate the

application rate:

5. Adjust, if necessary, the

pump setting and repeat

the above procedure to

confirm application rate.
