We therefore recommend that you position your VL1 at a height of 3 - 4
meters and angled towards the area of interest so that most traffic
crosses the zones and triggers your VL1 to start recording.
The PIR sensor detects
the difference between
objects and ambient air
temperature and will
only trigger when it
detects a hot object
moving across its zones.
Because of this the area
of sensitivity will vary
with changes in
temperature and the size
of the object. Your VL1
will become more
sensitive in winter and at
night when the
difference between the
hot object and the
ambient air temperature
is greatest, with
sensitivity reducing in
summer and during the
day when the difference
is less.
