User manual
ICAP RESPMOD server is the URL for an ICAP server's RESPMOD service. This
allows an ICAP server to modify web transaction responses, i.e. to process traffic that is
returned from an external web server, e.g. for virus scanning. It must begin with icap://,
e.g.: icap://192.168.0.10:1344/respmod
You may choose to Bypass ICAP server if uncontactable. If the ICAP server is not
responding to requests, web transactions are allowed as normal. If this option is
disabled, all web transactions are blocked until the ICAP server becomes contactable.
Advanced
Click Advanced then Advanced again to modify the advanced settings of the web
cache.
You may specify the TCP network Port that the web cache listens on, this is usually 3128
or 8080.
Extra diagnostic output may be displayed in the system login addition to the usual
cache log file.
Objects larger than the Maximum cached object size (KB) are NOT cached. If you
wish to get a high BYTES hit ratio, you should probably increase this (one 32 MB object
hit counts for 3200 10 KB hits). If you wish to increase speed more than you want to
save bandwidth, you should leave this low.
Objects larger than the Maximum cached object size in memory (KB) are NOT kept in
the memory cache. This should be set high enough to keep objects accessed frequently
in memory to improve performance whilst low enough to keep larger objects from
hoarding cache memory.
For Transparent Proxy, see the section
Transparent web cache with access control on
page
130.
For Interoperate with Access Controls, see the section
Web cache with access control
on page
130.
The Anonymity Level controls the amount of identifying information to be removed from
web requests in order to protect your anonymity. The levels of protection are specified in
increasing order and all but the first violate the HTTP standard and thus might cause
problems with some web sites. The Custom setting is for users who have manually
edited these settings in the cache configuration file as it leaves the settings untouched.
Log File Size (KB) is the maximum size of each log file before it gets rotated. If set to
zero, the log files are rotated every time they're checked.
