Sample Application #2: Daisy-Chain (Home-Run) Configuration
Use up to 21 Data Distributors to connect up to 64 RS-485 controlled cameras to a single PTZ
controller or DVR.
Installation (5-64 Cameras):
1. Mount and install distributor #1 where the inputs and outputs can be easily accessed.
2. Connect a PTZ controller using either the RS-232 plug or the RS-485 input terminal block on
distributor #1.
3. Plug the first 3 RS-485 cameras you wish to control into the RS-485 output terminal blocks.
4. Using the unused RS-485 output on Distributor #1, connect to the RS-485 input on distributor #2.
5. Plug the next 3 cameras into the RS-485 output terminal blocks on distributor #2.
6. Repeat steps #4 and #5 until the maximum of 64 RS-485 cameras are connected.
7. Individually connect the distributors one at a time using the included 12DVC power adapters.
8. Turn on power to the PTZ controller and the RS-485 controlled cameras the distributors are
connected to.

NOTE: If using multiple units, the RS-485 controller(s) must be connected to the first unit in
the daisy-chain configuration. A controller may be connected to a unit lower in the
daisy-chain, but it will only control units connected after, not before.
