The following describes the connection details for a console terminal. The
usage of this terminal is defined in procedures provided in the
A
X
M System
Administration
and

X
M Troubleshooting
manuals.
The following diagram illustrates how the different terminals would be
connected as a console.
CAUTION
The terminal can be connected while power is applied to the
A
X
M and the terminal. Proper care should be exercised to
ensure the cable ends do not come in contact with other
electrically charged components.

Make sure the terminal is properly configured
(switches/jumpers/etc.).

Connect the direct connect terminal interface cable to
the terminal. See the diagram following this table for
the proper connection (depends on which device you
are using as the console terminal).

Connect the terminal interface cable to the WSI2 I/O
board connector for Serial Port 1 (connector J1).
You must disconnect the modem cable from J1 if a
modem is currently connected to the A
X
M
coprocessor.
