Powering on the GoFlex Satellite™ Device
1. Disconnect the USB 3.0 adapter and cable from the GoFlex Satellite drive. GoFlex Satellite
does not broadcast when it is connected to a computer.
2. Attach the plastic cover to the end of the GoFlex Satellite device to cover the connector.
(Reattaching the cover is not required to power on the GoFlex Satellite device, however, it is
recommended to protect the connector and to avoid misplacing the cover.)
3. Press the Power button on the side of the GoFlex Satellite device.
The Wi-Fi LED and the power LED turn on. The Wi-Fi LED blinks green as GoFlex Satellite
starts up. Startup takes about 40 seconds. The LED blinks blue when the drive has
completed startup, indicating it is broadcasting and ready to be accessed wirelessly.
The battery inside GoFlex Satellite is partially charged at the factory; the power LED is green
when the battery is fully charged. The battery possesses a sufficient charge to complete the
setup process and to copy content to the drive.
If the power LED is red, GoFlex Satellite has a maximum of 50 minutes of battery life. If you
plan to use the device right away, it is recommended that you charge the drive until the power
LED turns green. See “Charging the Battery” on page 12.
To power off GoFlex Satellite:
Press and release the Power button. The Wi-Fi LED turns off, followed by the power LED. If
the drive is in use, it will take a little longer for the GoFlex Satellite device to power off
completely.
