FCAL Drive Module

1.2.3.1 Overload Shutdown
In order to protect against overload due to incorrect configuration, the enclosure will shutdown if more than 8, 10
000 rpm, 9Gb FF drives (drive type 3, i.e. drives with operational power >22 watts) are installed with only 1 Power
Supply/Cooling module active.
1.2.3.2 Drive Type
The drive type information is stored in the enclosure EEPROM. To set this to the required value use the SS-1200
Configuration Program (SCP) which can access this data through the RS232 link. Please refer to the SS-1200
Developer’s Guide for details of the SCP.
Note Operation of the enclosure/drives is unaffected by these settings, with the exception of type 3 drives as described
above.
If the Manual Start Jumper is not fitted (default) then the drives will start in a delayed sequence defined as:12
seconds x module 8 of the SEL_ID of the drive.
