PRE-OPERATION CHECKS
WARNING
The pre-operation check is very important prior to operating the water-
craft. Always check the proper operation of critical controls, safety fea-
tures and mechanical components, before starting as listed hereinafter. If
not done as specified here, severe injury or death might occur. Bring all
safety equipment required by local laws.
Some of the following items may not have been previously covered in this
guide, however they will be described in the MAINTENANCE or SPECIAL
PROCEDURES section. Please refer to these sections to have more detailed
information.
WARNING
Engine should be off and the DESS key should always be removed from
its post prior to verifying any of the following points. Only start watercraft
once all items have been checked and operate properly.
ITEM OPERATION
Hull Inspect.
Jet pump water intake Inspect/clean.
Bilge Drain. Ensure plugs are secured.
Battery Inspect tightness of cables and retaining fasteners.
Fuel tank Refill.
Engine compartment
Check fuel line connections for tightness. Verify for any fuel
leak/odor as well as oil and coolant leaks.
Engine oil level Check/refill.
Engine coolant level
Check/refill.
Steering system and side
vanes (O.P.A.S.)
Check operation.
Throttle system Check operation.
Shifter system Check operation.
VTS (if so equipped) Check operation.
Storage compartment cover

and seat
Ensure they are closed and latched.
Self-Contained Removable
Storage Bin
Ensure it is installed on vehicle and properly closed and
latched.
Wakeboard(s) and rack(s)
Ensure rack is installed properly.
Make sure bungee cords are in good condition.
– Ensure wakeboard is installed properly.
