1. Place an empty container on the pan.
2. Press Tare .
3. Place parts to be counted into the container already on the pan.
4. Press M , Recall , Pieces .
To return the balance to normal operating mode, press C .
Checkweighing / Process Control Limits
Although you may do checkweighing using the front panel controls, the keyboard checkweighing is faster and easier.
Checkweighing can also be used in conjunction with the statistics program to give you additional process control information.
The keyboard procedure sets high and low control limits for checkweighing by entering the limits into storage registers 87 and
88.
Example: The upper weight limit equals 15.125 grams and the lower weight limit equals 14.875 grams.
To enter upper limit, press 15.125 , Enter , 88 , Store .
To enter lower limit, press 14.875 , Enter , 87 , Store .
To recall contents of either register to check the current entry, press (register #), Recall .
Enter into the checkweighing mode via the balance front panel by pressing the FUNCTION switch (RANGE and MODE
switches simultaneously on dual range models) and then pressing the MODE switch when HI, OK, LO appears in the display. If
the part exceeds the upper limit entered into storage register 88, HI will appear in the display along with the weight. If the part
weighs less than the lower limit entered into storage register 87, LO will appear. If the weight is between the limits, OK will
appear. Whenever the balance is turned off using the front panel ON/OFF switch, these limits are erased and must be reset.
To return the balance to normal operating mode, press Mode on the balance front panel or C on the keyboard.
Live Animal Weighing / Weighing in Severe Vibration Environments
You may weigh live animals using either the front panel controls or the keyboard. This allows the balance to monitor changing
weight readings due to animal movements or severe unstable environments by time averaging the weight readings. The keyboard
procedure begins by pressing the
T
key on the keyboard.
To weigh a live animal using the keyboard, one procedure is:
1. Place cage on the balance.
2. Tare or zero the cage weight by pressing Tare .
3. Remove the cage from the pan, place the animal in the cage, and replaced the caged animal on the pan.
4. Press
T
.
5. The display will drift slowly toward the ultimate weight reading.
6. To arrive at the ultimate reading more quickly, press Reset ,
T
.
(Note: If the weight is placed on the pan after the
T
is pressed, press Reset ,
T
to arrive at the ultimate reading more quickly.)
To return the balance to normal operating mode, press C .
If you already know the exact weight of an empty cage, another keyboard procedure is:
1. Press Tare to get a good zero before weighing.
2. Place the caged animal on the weighing pan.
3. The weight of the cage may be subtracted from the display by numerically entering the weight and pressing Tare .
4. Press
T
.
To send weight, number of display updates, and standard deviation of the mean during live animal weighing or severe vibration
environment weighing to a printer or computer, press Recall , Send ,
