Combination of
copper cable and
fiber optic cable
This example shows the structure of an INTERBUS configuration using a
combination of copper cable (RS 485) and fiber optic cable. The nodes on the
remote bus branch are Momentum I/O modules.
The conversion from copper cable to fiber optic cable is done with OPTOSUB or
OPTOSUB PLUS, depending on the module used (see section Transition from
Copper Cable ↔ Fiber Optic Cable, p. 16).
A switch between copper cable and fiber optic cable can be made at any point.
However, a maximum of 2 OPTOSUB plugs per branch interface module can be
used.
