Power Requirements
The c 5 V required for the logic power supply of the I/O modules is provided by the modules:
v Network Interface NIM positionned at the beginning of the primary segment.
v BOS bus extension module positionned at the beginning of the extension segment.
This built-in 5 V power supply provides up to 1200 mA current.
Depending on the total number of modules (on the primary segment and the extension segments), the island installer ought to calculate the
island’s total power requirements to assure that the currrent required by the I/O modules is not greater than the current provided by the network
interface module.
Using the worksheet
For each segment:
b In the “Number” column, indicate the desired quantity for each of the I/O modules used.
b In the “Total” column, calculate the total current based on that quantity.
b In cell 1, add up all these values (mA).
b The total in cell 1 must be lesser than or equal to 1,200 mA, cell 2.
