How to Configure the Island

Selecting a Frame Type
To specify an Ethernet frame type, select one of the following values in the Ethernet
Frame Format list:
z Ethernet II
z IEEE 802.3
z Auto: The device applies the appropriate format.
Assigning a Stored IP Address
Enter a stored IP address for the STB NIP 2311 module in the Advantys
Configuration Software:

Configure the STB NIP 2311 module’s two Ethernet ports using the Advantys
Configuration Software:
Step Action
1 Double-click the NIM in the island editor to open the module editor.
2 Select the Ethernet Parameters tab, then click the IP Address tab to open the IP address page.
3 In the IP Address page, input values for these fields:
IP Address Type in 4 octet values (from 0...255) as a unique IP address.
NOTE: The first octet must be in the range 1...126 or 128...233.
Subnet Mask Type in 4 octet values (0...255).
Default Gateway (Optional) Type in 4 octet values. This value must reside on the same subnet as the
IP address.
4 Click either:
z Apply: Save your edits and keep the module editor open.
z OK: Save your edits and close the module editor.
5 Set the lower rotary switch to one of its STORED positions.
NOTE: The new rotary switch settings are used only after a power cycle of the STB NIP 2311 module.
Step Action
1 Double-click the NIM in the island editor to open the module editor.
2 Select the Ethernet Parameters tab, then click the IP Address tab to open the IP Address page.
3 In the Port 1 Parameters area, select a speed and duplex combination:
z Auto: The module and the connected device determine the appropriate port speed and duplex mode (the
default setting).
z 10T/Half: 10Mbps port speed and half duplex mode
z 10T/Full: 10Mbps port speed and full duplex mode
z 100T/Half: 100Mbps port speed and half duplex mode
z 100T/Full: 100Mbps port speed and full duplex mode
4 In the Port 2 Parameters area, make a selection for port 2. (See the above step.)
5 Click either:
z Apply: Save your edits and keep the module editor open.
z OK: Save your edits and close the module editor.
