Connecting an Advantys STB Island to a Quantum Master Using

Download the Configuration to the PLC
Transfer the configuration project to the PLC:
Prepare the Physical Island
Prepare the hardware to accept the downloaded configuration:
NOTE: Your managed switch may require address configuration. Refer to the user's
guide for your particular switch.
Download the Configuration to the Island
Transfer the configuration to the Advantys island:
Step Action Comment
1 Select PLC → Transfer Project to
PLC.
Unity Pro asks if you want to stop the
PLC before the data is transferred.
2 Press OK. The project is downloaded to the PLC.
3 Click OK when you are asked to run
the project.
The configuration and the address
server start running from the PLC.
Step Action Comment
1 Set the rotary switches on the
STB NIP 2311 NIM to the value 16.
To set the value 16:
z TENS switch: set to 1
z ONES switch: set to 6
2 Connect the NIM to the existing
Ethernet network through an
Ethernet cable.
Refer to the Ethernet cable
recommendations (see page 26).
3 Cycle power to the island. The island performs its boot up sequence
and receives the configured IP address
(192.168.1.16) from the PLC’s address
server.
Step Action Comment
1 Launch the Advantys Configuration
Software.
See the directions for launching ACS
from Unity Pro (see page 213).
2 Select Online → Connect.The Data Transfer dialog box
appears.
3 Click Download in the Data Transfer
dialog box.
The Advantys Configuration Software
prompts you to reset the island.
4 Press Yes.
z The configuration begins
downloading to the island.
z The modules flash in blue when the
download is complete.
